Ghost Soldier Rifleman, Engineer, Scout

Three classes, separate level tracks, and gadgets that still decide 2026 community lobbies.

Multiplayer Classes

Adversarial Future Soldier is not the campaign’s Hunter squad. You pick Rifleman, Engineer, or Scout. Each class has its own weapons, gadgets, and a level track that originally climbed to 50, then higher with DLC caps. You can unlock a second character per class after 50, for six slots if you finish all three. Campaign Kozak is not a class. If you came here looking for Pepper’s nickname, the Hunter team page is next door.

Official playlists died on 25 January 2024. In 2026 the same class rules still run on community PC backends and PS3 REBORN. Connect via how to play online. Maps you do not own still bounce you — pack list on DLC. The GameSpot maps-and-modes video in the middle of this page is a 2012 creative-director walkthrough of Pipeline, Mill, and Conflict; the class logic did not change.

Rifleman

Heavy armor is the passive. You take more center-mass hits than the other two. Weapons: assault rifles and light machine guns. LMGs suppress — the enemy’s screen tightens and shakes, which is how your Scout crosses a street. Underbarrels include grenades, smoke, and a stun gun at early levels. IGN’s old tip still holds: take the ammo box at the decision point so you restock mines and nades for the squad.

Play Rifleman if you like holding a lane on Mill or Overpass. Do not play Rifleman if you want to be invisible. That is Scout. The weapon tier list still applies to receivers; the class gate is real. You cannot main a sniper on Rifleman because the game will not let you.

Engineer

Intel class. Shotguns and personal defense rifles. Passive is a scope detector: you feel when someone ADS you and get a direction. Gadgets: UAV, UCAV, sensor tools, motion mines, field computer. Level 4 is the famous fork — UAV for spotting versus field computer for faster hacks. IGN preferred the field computer in objective modes; UAV is still the toy people remember. Drones get shot down. Do not stare at the tablet in the open.

Engineers win tight maps (Pipeline’s alleys, Transit, Skyline interiors). They lose long tarmac if nobody else brought a rifle. Mines pay more XP for detected kills than raw gun kills in the old tables, which is why Engineers linger. Stun-gun a distracted Scout for the hack bonus if you like living dangerously.

Scout

Optical camouflage when crouched and still. Stand up and you can stay hidden; walk or shoot and the cloak breaks. Weapons: sniper rifles and SMGs. Thermal optics later in the tree see through smoke and other people’s camo. Custom high-mag scopes exist for people who never want to see a doorway again.

Play Scout on Mill, Evicted, and any map with a river or a tower. Play SMG Scout when the map is Switchback. A lobby of four Scouts is a joke until it is a steamroll, and then it is still a joke. Bring one Rifleman. The loadout planner Scout row (one MSR max) is campaign advice that happens to be good manners in PvP too.

Modes and maps, short

Conflict is objective team play: completing the objective scores, kills support. Guerrilla is PvE waves — different article. Stockade arrived with Arctic Strike. Takeover arrived with Khyber Strike. Base adversarial maps players still name: Alpha, Cargo, Rig, Underground, Market, Sand Storm, Overpass, Pipeline, Mill, Harbor. DLC adds Evicted, Riot, Skyline, Switchback, Palace, Transit. The beta tutorial on this page spends its minutes on Pipeline and Mill because those two teach elevated angles versus a river split.

Level 10 on all three classes is Cross-trained. Level 50 on one class is the old High Speed, Low Drag energy. DLC raises the cap in tens. None of that unlocks if you never connect; none of that requires Ubisoft’s dead official servers if a 2026 community backend is up.

Bodark is the other faction’s skin and gun set, not a fourth class. You still pick Rifleman, Engineer, or Scout when you wear their hats. Campaign Bodark operators are enemies on the squad hub. Do not confuse the two searches.

Queue with people who will use a UAV and a suppressor. 2012 muscle memory still wins these maps. If the lobby is empty, play Guerrilla or the campaign offline. The classes will be here when the Discord pin says the backend is healthy.
