Ghost Soldier How to Play Online in 2026
Official Ubisoft servers are gone. Community projects brought co-op and Guerrilla back.
Ubisoft decommissioned official online services in two waves: PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 1 October 2022, then PC on 25 January 2024. The campaign still plays offline. Four-player co-op, competitive play, and Guerrilla do not — not on Ubisoft’s hardware. In 2026, fan projects restored matchmaking for people who already own the game. This page is the honest map: PC community files, PlayStation 3 DNS revival, and Xbox workarounds. It is not a pirate guide. Buy the game on Steam or Ubisoft Connect first.

What died in 2024 and what came back
Official PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 matchmaking stopped. Guerrilla maps that lived behind Deluxe, Season Pass, or old Uplay rewards became annoying to access even in local menus. Community groups — Warehouse Games style PC revival, the Future Soldier Discord, and PS3 REBORN — spent 2025 and 2026 putting peer-to-peer and private backends under the same client.
You still need a legitimate copy. PC tutorials that walk through extra files are re-enabling multiplayer on an install you paid for. They are not a replacement exe. If a video tells you otherwise, close it.
PC (Steam / Ubisoft Connect)
Install the game. Launch it once so Ubisoft Connect creates the directory. Join the community Discord listed on the Links hub and follow their current PC pinned message — file names change, this wiki will not host binaries. Typical flow in 2026:
- Own the game on Steam or Ubisoft Connect.
- Download the revival pack the Discord currently signs.
- Extract it into the game install folder.
- Register a community account (Warehouse-style sites have been used for MP keys).
- Place the issued key file in the same install folder.
- Boot the game, enter the name you registered, and queue.
If matchmaking fails, verify the key matches the name, disable extra overlays, and try a friend host. Peer-to-peer is sensitive to strict NAT. The Classic PC Games video in the middle of this page shows a busy 2026 server and the same install speech so you can see the menus.
Deluxe Guerrilla maps (Drilling Ship, Tramway, Rooftops, and DLC maps) may need a separate community save or DLC unlock walkthrough. Steam Workshop does not carry them. PCGamingWiki and Steam guides linked from links are the clean references.
PlayStation 3
PS3 REBORN revived Future Soldier online with trophy support. The DualShockers write-up from March 2026 is the public version of the steps:
Settings → Network Settings → Internet Connection Settings → Custom → Manual DNS. Primary 146.190.205.197, secondary 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8. Test the connection, then boot the game. Join the PS3 REBORN Discord for outages. You do not need a Network Passport on that DNS according to players in those servers.
RPCS3 users have been recorded in the same PS3 REBORN ecosystem (community footage from January 2026 billed as PS3 and emulator cross-play). Treat that as a bonus path, not a support desk. Trophies came back with the REBORN stack according to DualShockers (March 2026). A July 2026 public DNS list for custom PS3 servers still names 146.190.205.197 for Future Soldier; if that address ever moves, believe the REBORN Discord pin over this paragraph.
This wiki will not tell you how to jailbreak a console. If your PS3 is already running a custom firmware community, you already know more than this page should print.
Xbox 360 / Series backward compatibility
Xbox 360 matchmaking is the fragile one. Some 2026 captures still show lobbies on Series X backward compatibility. Community advice has been: boot the game offline, reach the main menu, then go online. Join the Xbox channel of the Future Soldier Discord rather than trusting a random looking-for-group post. Do not pay anyone for a “private server file” on this platform.
Once you are in a lobby
Campaign co-op is the same twelve missions. Assign who calls Sync Shot. Guerrilla is wave defense on maps like Airstrip, Mansion, Office, Shanty Town, plus DLC maps if unlocked. Classes are Rifleman, Engineer, and Scout — they gate Gunsmith parts. Read MP classes and Gunsmith before you waste a prestige on a barrel you cannot equip. Be decent. These servers exist because a few people missed the game. Team-killing a 2012 revival lobby is a weird hobby.
If you cannot get online this month, the campaign and Gunsmith still work offline. Play Nimble Guardian instead of sitting in a menu.
